Balancefit is an exercise program that can help improve and maintain reliable functional balance in older adults. Most falls happen due to weakness in the hips and thighs. The program includes exercises designed to strengthen and lengthen those muscles that are responsible for healthy balance. The class is partially chair-based safe, and most importantly, fun! You can decrease the risks of falling, increase your confidence, maintain an independent lifestyle, and improve your vitality and quality of life. If you are experiencing a change in your balance and you are reluctant to engage in activities you enjoy, this class can be a bridge back to your life!


This course will be offered via ZOOM (live online instruction). The instructor will provide the ZOOM registration link prior to the course beginning. ZOOM is a free online application.

Bobbi Koonse

Bobbi Koonse is a certified Fallproof Balance and Mobility Specialist, having received her training from Cal State Fullerton at the Center for Successful Aging. She has been practicing Karate and Tai Chi at the En Mei Ryu School of Karate and is a full master of the art form (5th Dan). Bobbi has been teaching Tai Chi and Balance & Mobility for older adults at the YMCA of the Foothills since 2007. She is dedicated to helping older adults improve their balance and reduce their risks of falling so that they may have a better quality of life.
