Certified Phlebotomy Technician program may be subsidized for eligible students who are accepted into the Fresh Success program. Phlebotomy Technicians are in demand as one of the fastest growing occupations in healthcare. Launch your career as a Phlebotomy Technician, collecting blood samples from patients in a hospital, clinical laboratory, medical office, or clinic. Through lectures and hands-on training, learn what you need to know about the circulatory system, venipuncture technique and specimen collection, risk factors and complications, and quality assurance. This course provides a complete learning experience - with 48 hours of classroom instruction and a 40-hour hands-on externship, and prepares you to take the National Certification exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1). A certificate of completion is awarded upon successful completion of the course.
You must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Students will be required to wear Masks & Scrub uniform (any color) to class every week.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum HS Diploma/GED, 18 years+, Negative TB exam, Masks, Scrubs, (new, used, or borrowed).

BECOME A PHLEBOTOMIST IN 4 STEPS:
1. Classroom Time: 48 hours at Glendale College Garfield Campus
2. National Exam: 2 hours (to be scheduled by the student, additional information about the National Exam will be provided in class)
3. Externship: 40 hours in clinical setting
4. Submit Documents to the State of California

JOB OUTLOOK: The need for Phlebotomists will remain high as doctors and other health-care professionals require blood work for analysis and diagnoses. According to U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, the national demand of phlebotomy technicians is forecasted to grow by an estimated 24% by 2026.

CERTIFICATION: Upon Completion of the program, the student will qualify to apply to the State of California as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1).
Your tuition includes books, supplies, study guides, all class materials, exam preparation and externship. Tuition does not include required State License fee of $100, or the National Certification exam fee of $115.

**REFUNDS: Must be requested in writing 5 business days before the first class meeting. A 10% processing fee will be retained by the college. No refunds after first class meeting.
