You'll know which way the wind blows after today's tour of two amazing sites in Palm Springs! First, we'll visit Moorten Botanical Garden, the privately-owned arboretum and world's first "Cactarium" created to share the beauty and extraordinary varieties of desert plants with everyone who visits. Established in 1938, this residence estate features 3,000 varieties of desert trees, plants, and cacti from around the world - ranging in size from miniature to giants - in concentrated habitats along a flat nature trail. In addition, a classic collection glistening crystals, colorful rocks, ancient fossils, and pioneer and gold mining relics, combine to present a living museum of desert lore and a special exhibition of rare plants seen nowhere else in the world. After time at leisure in downtown Palm Springs for lunch on your own at a variety of restaurants, a knowledgable guide boards our motorcoach for an informative driving tour of the Palm Springs wind farm. You've seen them as you've traveled through the fabled San Gorgonio Pass - enormous windmills with blades half the length of a football field spinning round and round. These aren't the windmills we used to see on grandpa's farm - you're looking at the future first-hand! Spectacular mountain vistas provide a backdrop as we travel through the Coachella Valley on this unique, behind-the-scenes tour that gets you up-close and personal to these enormous and beautiful windmills with incredible photo opportunities! We'll also make a stop at Hadley's, famous for their breads, nuts and date shakes. Price: $89
Depart: GCC 8:00 a.m. Return: 7:00 p.m.
