A career as a Pharmacy Technician gives you the opportunity to be part of one of the fastest growing careers in the healthcare industry. As a Pharmacy Technician you will help the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling, inventory control and purchasing, as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing.

Our program provides instruction in the following essential areas:

  • Screeing prescription orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Preparing prescriptions - retrieve, count, pour, weigh, measure and sometimes mix the medication
  • Performing calculations
  • Using technology to help maintain accurate patient records, prepare and package medications, and place orders
  • Understand the effect of medications on the body Identifying the use, dosages and purposes of medications

This program includes 182 hours of classroom instruction (including quizzes and activities online), and 120 hour externship for a total of 302 hours. Graduates of this program may find career opportunities in the retail, hospital and mail-order pharmacies, as well as drug companies and opportunities to teach Pharmacy Technician classes.
